Daily reading recorded in the Reading Log.
In the new Topic letter we list suggestions for home learning ideas, we very much enjoy seeing these over the course of the topic. If you can think of any of your own ideas then please feel free to complete your own projects!
We would love to see any and all work that your child does at home!
If you have any queries about the home learning please don’t hesitate to ask.
Our topic this half term is Once Upon a Time.
In English we will be learning a variety of fairytales and stories and exploring activities based around them.
In Maths we will be looking at number and place value, addition and subtraction, shape, money and multiplication.
In our Topic work we will be learning all about Castles, Kings, Queens and exploring different themes in fairytales.
Please continue to support your child’s learning at home by:
- Daily reading – this is essential to practice the skills taught in class, let us know in the Reading Record if you have any worries or want to share something amazing they’ve achieved in their reading.
- Number Bonds – to learn to rapidly recall number pairs that make 10 and 20 is a valuable skill.
- Times Tables – 2s, 10s, 5s and 3s.
We are always so pleased to see any work that your child may choose to do at home; please look at the ideas for Home Learning and see if you can work with your child to complete some of the suggested tasks sent home for each topic.
At Sherborne Primary, we follow the Letters and Sounds phonics scheme. We use the Oxford Reading Tree and Big Cats Phonics books as our reading scheme. If you have any questions about phonics or reading, please see Miss Porter.
