Parent Information

In the Foundation Stage we are developing positive relationships and an enabling environment for our unique children to have fun, learn through exploration and become creative critical thinkers.

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).   Follow this Link to info on EYFS for Parents.

Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school at all times.

To keep updated with our current activities, events or timetable changes please ensure you look in their Green Book folder every evening.

We continue to provide afternoon snack for all Foundation Stage children. Snack money will be collected through school money, 50p per week £6.50 per term or 19.50 per year.

At sherborne primary school we implore our parents to read with and to their children everyday.  Being able to read opens the world of learning to us all. Therefore a love of stories, books and reading is of the highest importance to our children. During the spring term we will be approaching parents to begin to change their children’s books and games as they are ready to do so.However please follow the order of the list as this follows key word learning and to some extent the phonic sound learning. Doing this will ensure your child is practicing the key words and sounds as we learn them.  We use the DFE Letters and Sounds structure to teach phonics.

Stay and Play
Each morning you are welcome to stay from 8.45am onwards to play with your child, this will help to settle them for the day ahead.

Tapestry
At the beginning of the last academic year we embarked on a new  way of creating a learning journal, thus in order to report and record your child’s achievements. Tapestry is an online learning journal and assessment tool. The vast majority of parents enjoyed the instant access this gave to their child’s learning and development. Therefore, we will continue with this online learning journal for this academic year 2017-18. Mrs Green is our Tapestry queen, if you experience any technical problem she is always happy to help if she can.

Internet safety is always important and the children will continue to work on this during the year. Click below to see a copy of our internet safety rules.
