Random Acts of Kindness
Sherborne Primary prides itself at being the centre of the community, as well as providing children with the opportunity to progress their social skills and understand that ‘to do something for nothing, just feels good inside and no reward is necessary!’
On the 5th October both Sainsbury’s and Waitrose sponsored our children with flowers to enable them to deliver Random Acts of Kindness within Cheap Street in Sherborne. The children also donated their own gifts of sweets and chocolates and as the public passed by, they just stopped them and said, ‘have a lovely day!’ whilst passing over the gift.
You cannot underestimate the impact of this project, which also includes our ‘intergenerational aspect’ (this is where we are linking with several Care Homes in the town to play games, perform cooking and art with our older generation). It was just wonderful to watch everyone in the town walk around holding a flower and we even had an email from a tourist from Manchester, who was visiting Sherborne at the time to thank us for cheering her up!
The feedback this activity provides the children is incredible and hopefully kindness breeds kindness, making the world a happier place!!!
