Homework

  • Reading is such an essential life skill and has a direct impact into other areas of the curriculum particularly writing.
We want children to be passionate bookworms and we want children to love reading. So please encourage as much reading as possible at home – ideally daily.
  • Children’s reading books will be changed every Friday. We expect the children to take part in some form of reading each day and for this to be recorded in their reading log. It maybe that a couple of time a week an adult reads them a story and then it is discussed or that a child and adult take it in turns to read pages of a book.
  • Occasional Maths and English will be sent out when a particular skill requires practice. The hand-in date will be on the homework.
  • In addition, practising the following at home will really benefit learning: counting forward and backwards in 2’s (0-20), 5’s (0-50), 10’s (0-100), quick recall of times tables in particular  x2, x5, x10 and quick recall of doubles and halves of numbers up to 24.
  • Year 2’s will have weekly spellings to learn at home.
